Following the success of our Doxecology conference in 2023 where we explored the churches response to Climate Change, you are invited to our 2024 conference; Justice and The Economy – exploring the churches response to economic injustice today.
As a church involved daily with supporting those on the economic margins we are increasingly asking how and why so many in our society find themselves unable to access the basic requirements needed for a full and fulfilling life.
Join us and our keynote speaker; Michael Mather; author of “Having Nothing Possessing Everything” to explore how the church can support those on the margins and, more than that how the church is called to become an advocate for those who are left behind by our economic structures.
Our other speakers bring a range of experiences and insights and we hope will make for an engaging and interactive day for anyone interested in how the church can work and speak for a more just society:
Prof. Chris Baker; William Temple Professor of Religion, Belief and Public Life at Goldsmiths, University of London and Director of Research for the William Temple Foundation. Who will be talking about the church’s growing role in shaping public policy.
Rosie Venner of the JustMoney Movement, who will be talking about ways to shape a more just economy
Val Barron of Citizens UK who will be offering advice and insight into community organising at the grassroots level to effect real change.
If you are interested in joining us please do book as soon as possible as this enables us to plan for the day. Registration is now open on Eventbrite and pricing is set so that anyone can come regardless of means while those who can afford to can support us to continue to be open to all.
