Last Wednesday we hosted a bake sale for Ash Green School. Following the fire, lots of parents of children at the school wanted to do something to help. They decided to fill Holy Nativity with the smell of freshly baked cake! From there, everything snowballed with the addition of a tombola and raffle! All proceeds are going to school via the Community Foundation appeal.
Many local businesses generously donated prizes enabling us to put on what became a massive community event! The generous outpouring for Ash Green and our community has been truly overwhelming! Over a hundred people turned up over the course of the afternoon and loads of cake was eaten!
So far, over a thousand pounds has been raised and we will update with a final total after the raffle is drawn on Saturday live via our Facebook page. If you would like to buy any more tickets, get in touch with @mixyintern, Bailey.
This is the reason I have so much pride in this community. We all lookout for each other and want to help. It really shows how loving and caring the people of Mixenden and Illingworth are. The day made so many people smile and that’s what matters.
Bailey Wilcock, Holy Nativity’s Intern.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Atik, The Moorlands, The Flying Pig, Mixenden Fisheries, Bake n Butties, Moody’s Taxi’s, The Acapulco and Spring Head as well as all of the other people who have donated to raise funds for the school! Apologies if we have missed anyone!
And of course, a huge thank you needs to be said to Bailey who has worked so hard to make the whole thing happen!
