Revd Lindsey’s New Post as Vicar
For the last two years we have had Revd Lindsey Barber working as a curate at Holy Nativity. During these two years, she has touched all of our lives with her pastoral care, spiritual guidance and wicked sense of humour. Yesterday, we took our last official steps with her as we attended her licensing to a group of parishes the other side of Huddersfield. The service at Emmanuel Church in Shelley was led by Bishop Smitha and Archdeacon Bill. Ruth…
Youth Camp Travel by Rail
We had a wet start to the day at camp but the tents kept us all dry through the night. It was eggy bread for breakfast before we went to Whitby train station. This is where we met Archdeacon Bill who joined us for the day! We all took the historic train through the moors to Goathland. We spent an hour doing activities around the station before eating lunch. It took us two different trains to get back to Whitby…
Youth Group Gets Historic
We’ve had a fantastic day heading across the North Yorkshire Moors. First we drove to Scarborough Castle where the youngsters all earned a badge for running around finding facts and completing the history booklet using a quill. Then they were put in the stocks and climbed the high tower. We made our way back to Whitby Abbey where we had lunch. Then we heard about Saint Hilda and the council of Whitby. I am amazed at how the youngsters will…
Youth Camp Begins!
We have arrived on the North Yorkshire Moors for a week of fun and games! After learning how to work guy lines and put pegs in at at a 45° angle, we went to the beach for an evening paddle. We finished with some games and a camp fire! Our first full day was spent burning off the calories we consumed with a cooked breakfast. A hike along the cliff tops to Runswick Bay in the glorious sunshine followed by…

Partnerships Update
Thanks to our development project, we’ve been able to start working much more closely with community partners to expand and improve what we are doing in the community here at Holy Nativity. Working with Together Housing we’ve seen improvements to our facilities. And with them and others we’ve now set up fortnightly support drop ins where local residents can come for advice and support on a range of issues. Our advice service includes: We are always looking for ways to…
More Building updates!
Following on from the big March clear out and the creation of the new church office we’ve been doing even more to improve the back stage facilities here at Holy Nativity. For such a busy and active church, we really struggle for storage, and thanks to the UKSPF grant and some help from community partners it’s been great to see progress on making everything more organised and easy to use. Starting with the vestry – where all the items for…
Funding Update
A lot of our UKSPF funded development project is about the big building project here at Holy Nativity, but at the same time we are still focused on delivering all the amazing activities and community benefits that we already do. To help us with that we get lots of support from local, regional and national funders and we are thrilled to report that we have two grants just in which will help us move forward. First, with the support of…
In The News!
It’s been a busy time here at Holy Nativity and with everything that’s going on we’ve been in the news! First a report on the start of the new project was published in March and then with our very special VIP visitor to Rock Mass we appeared in The Courier again, as well as in Christianity Magazine. It’s great to be getting so much attention – if you spot us anywhere in the press do let us know and keep…
